Pre-Treatment Requirements

The 1" feed connection on the AP3000-LX requires a pre-filter housing rated for at least 3 GPM with 5-micron cartridges. On municipal supplies, a carbon block stage is mandatory — chlorine contact with TW30 membranes causes irreversible oxidative damage within hours of exposure. For well water or agricultural-area supplies with iron above 0.1 mg/L, add an iron removal stage before the carbon filter. Hardness above 7 gpg demands softener pre-treatment or continuous antiscalant dosing; at this flow rate, scaling is rapid and membrane replacement costs are significant.
