Reverse osmosis is the most effective water purification method available for residential use. A standard 5-stage RO system removes 95 to 99 percent of dissolved contaminants including fluoride, nitrates, lead, arsenic, chlorine, chloramines, and total dissolved solids. It does this through physical separation at the membrane level, without chemicals beyond routine filter replacement.
